Our Story

An independent, family owned and operated funeral home.

Havelock Chapel

Built in 1913 by W.T. Curtis as a furniture store and a funeral home on the site of a former open air skating rink, the present facility has undergone several changes. In 1969, the business was purchased by Glen S. Brett. The furniture store was sold in 1990 and the vacated space was renovated to provide an additional visitation room as well as a spacious lounge area where families can join their friends for a chat over refreshments. In 1998, the business was purchased by Hugh and Dena McPhail. In 2001, the facility was completely redecorated and reappointed.

Hastings Chapel

In 1986, Brett Funeral Chapels Ltd. expanded their services into the Village of Hastings by building a modern facility at 76 Bridge Street North.. As well as a large chapel which can seat up to 150, there is a large lounge area where family and friends can relax. For those who prefer privacy during the service, a room off the chapel can accommodate up to 18 immediate family members.
