I've known Dave since grade nine, in Niagara Falls. Dave was dedicated to becoming a police officer, he talked about it throughout high school . We went to enlist at Jarvis Street in Toronto. When it came time to answer our scholastic achievements Dave sailed through his no problem. However, I took a "technical" course which left me 2 points short of the requirements of a Metro Toronto police officer.Dave was as disappointed as I was. We had plans eventually to become the current "Batman and Robin"! Sadly, the plans went asunder. I feel very sad for his wife, Pearl. Dave was a character, and I had to assume life in the Pendykoski home would never be dull. We went our own ways as I developed a small trucking company, was rarely home, Dave and family moved to Pickering, and I stayed in Niagara Falls. Dave's hometown.

Dave was a good friend, he even stood up for me, when the Metro Toronto police hiring people refused me. He talked to a couple of the hiring staff and asked how they could turn me down for such a minor point! He was told, that a point was a point, and no one was above bending the rules!

It,s been over 20 years since I saw him last, but I still consider him a good friend. To his wife Pearl and the rest of his kith and kin, I offer my deepest, deepest sympathies.

I was very saddened to hear the news of Pendys passing.We worked together for many years at 54 Div and he was a great copper and he always tried to do the right thing.My thoughts and prayers go out to Pearl and family.Rest in peace Dave.He will be miised.

I grew up with David on Montrose Road, Niagara Falls, Ontario. His mother and my mother were best of friends. Dave’s father taught me how to swim in Chippewa Creek. When I joined Toronto Police Service, David and Pearl were one of the first couples Kathie and I met. They made us feel welcomed and part of the Toronto family. My thoughts and prayers are with you Pearl and Carolynne. And to Rick and Dorothy Ann (Pumpkin), I will always cherish our friendship and will miss David dearly. God bless you all. I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a great and respected friend. Although our policing paths took different directions in 1984, I will always remember the close friendship and working relationship I shared with Pendy at 5 Traffic. He was one of the first to extend a hand of friendship when I first arrived at 5 Traffic in 1976, and we also spent some wonderful times together in the dungeon at 180 Yorkland Blvd. At the present time I myself am dealing with some health issues that will prevent me from expressing my condolences in person, I am thinking of Pearl and the family at this very difficult time.

Firstly, my condolences to Dave's family and friends. I met Dave in January 1981. I was a probationary constable in 55 Division. In the early hours of a snowy and icy morning I lost control of a scout car while going to an emergency call. The rear end of the vehicle smashed through the front glass doors of the Post Office at Queen and Winifred. Fortunately, no one was hurt. The 5 Traffic officer who attended was Dave. He was awesome with me. I will never forget that. He joked and said this was going to be tricky to write up and suggested that I give him some ideas. He made me laugh and forget visions of being handcuffed, fired and sent back to my country of origin. About 6 months later I transferred to 5 Traffic and to the same platoon as Dave. The consumate gentleman that he was, never raised the Post Office incident to me or to any of my new colleagues.

Always friendly, good-humoured and helpful. A great human being,

Pearl and Carolyn I was truly shocked when I saw that Dave has passed. I had the honour to have worked with him for several years at 5 Traffiic and 54 Division. We had a lot of laughs and fun when we worked a shift together. I always had great respect for Dave. A great cop and an even better man.. We will all miss him, I said a prayer for him and in true Newfie fashion I had a very large drink in honour of him.
